Invisible Grills in HSR Layout, Bangalore

Fall protection on balconies and windows using tensioned stainless steel cable, so the opening still reads as open.

Invisible Grills installed by JS Invisible Grills in HSR Layout, Bangalore

Invisible grills across HSR Layout, from Sector 1 through to Sector 7 and the 27th Main corridor. Because HSR is a layout of independent houses rather than towers, most of what we fit here is on the upper floors of a three- or four-storey home — the balconies and the stairwell openings that were built to look right rather than to stop anybody going over.

Local conditions

What HSR Layout changes about the job

The same crew and the same materials everywhere in Bangalore — what changes is the building stock, and what that means for how the job is fitted.

The recurring HSR job is a railing-height parapet on a second or third floor. The original wall is often no higher than a metre, which reads as a boundary rather than as a barrier, and a cable run from that parapet up to the slab closes the gap without rebuilding anything. We measure the existing parapet on the visit, because the drop varies between houses on the same street here far more than it does in an apartment block.

HSR is a BDA layout, so most of it is independent houses on 30x40 and 40x60 sites rather than towers — usually three or four floors with the top one let out and a terrace above that. Two jobs come out of that shape repeatedly: railing-height grills on the upper floors, where the original parapet was built to look right rather than to stop a child, and terrace netting on the roof. Agara Lake at the edge of the layout also means the pigeon pressure here is closer to a lake-side area than to the rest of south Bangalore.

Building stock here

Independent houses and duplexes across Sectors 1 to 7, small apartment blocks along the main roads, and a growing band of newer builds towards Sector 7 and the Sarjapur side. Utility balconies at the rear are near-universal in this layout and are usually the first opening a family asks us to close.

What you get

Why our invisible grills hold up

With invisible grills, the specification is easy to fake and hard to see. Cable grade, spacing and tension are what actually stop a fall, and all three are invisible in a photograph. We fit only 316 cable, hold the 2-inch spacing across the whole run, and name the grade in writing on your quote — so what you paid for is written down before anyone drills a hole.

The View Survives Cable at 2-inch spacing reads as almost nothing from a few feet back — the balcony still feels like a balcony.
Approved on Most Elevations Because it barely shows, associations that refuse welded grills on the facade will usually pass an invisible grill.
Nothing to Repaint No rust bleed down the wall, no annual repainting, no welded joints to fail.
Fits Awkward Openings Curved parapets, part-height railings and irregular window bays are all measured and cut individually.

Questions we get in HSR Layout

Can you fit invisible grills to the terrace stairwell opening in an HSR house?

Yes, and it is one of the more common jobs we do in this layout. A stairwell void or a terrace access opening is a fixed span with solid concrete on both sides, which is the easiest kind of anchor point to work with — usually a same-day installation once measured.

Which parts of HSR Layout do you cover?

All seven HSR sectors are on our regular route, plus Agara, Somasundarapalya and the 27th Main stretch. There is no travel charge inside Bangalore.

Will the grill actually be invisible?

Not literally — up close you can see the cable. From a few feet back, and from outside the building, the opening reads as open. That is the whole reason people choose it over an MS grill.

Is 2-inch spacing safe for a small child?

Yes. Two inches is narrower than a toddler's head breadth, which is the standard the spacing is set against, and the cable is under tension so it does not spread apart under a push.

Does drilling damage the balcony?

Anchors go into the structural parapet edge and the slab soffit, not the tile face. The holes are sealed and touched up as part of the job.

How long does an invisible grill last in Bangalore?

316-grade stainless does not rust in this climate, and the cable is under tension rather than under load, so there is nothing that wears in normal use. The practical life is far longer than a painted MS grill in the same position.

What does an invisible grill cost in Bangalore?

It is quoted per square foot of opening, and the figure depends on the size and how the anchors have to be set rather than on your area of the city. The measurement is free, the price that comes out of it is fixed, and it does not change afterwards.
